Day 2 - 216miles so far.
After stuffing ourselves at the buffet on the boat, a couple of pints and finally a double gin, we went to bed early for a calm, peacful nights sleep. Zeebruge was mild and dull but ok. What wasnt ok was the sat navs.
My chinese satnav refused to talk to any satelittes probably because they weren't chinese, and jills got all frightened because it was on the wrong side of the road and had a proper hissy fit. Once it had calmed down it insisted on going into all the little towns to look at the shops while my Blackview water proof phone now running the MyRoute navigation app just wanted to plough straight on and get us there.
There was actually a 12th century farm/estate now hotel, restaurant and function place in a little place called Nivelles 90 miles away. Really nice place, we were the only guests, but the restaurant wasnt open on fridays for some reason. but luckily the owner has a kind heart and he offered to cook for us and open the bar. Nigel turned up 2 hours late after utter chaos at the tunnel, pissing it down with rain and road works all the way from the terminal. On top of all that his waterproofs aint waterproof. hopefully he wont need them again.
A simple fresh cooked pasta meal with a hint of local grown chilli's wash down with a mix of dark Belgium beer and French red wine finished the day off nicely.
